|This volunteer opportunity is available in most schools and clubs mainly in Accra. You will be responsible for organizing training sessions and matches in collaboration with other local coaches.
You will be responsible for providing information on the many topics related to developing physical and mental condition to help fitness enthusiasts, athletes and coaches achieve their goals and to assist students studying sport related qualifications.
Keep in mind that rugby in particular is catching up in Ghana and most schools are getting involve as a new sport discipline and in some cases you may be the one introducing the game to certain schools. The teams are young but judging from their style of play at the regional level, there's a lot of potential in the players and a bright future for the game!
As a Volunteer coach, you will train people participating in sports (football or rugby) to work towards achieving their full potential. You may support professional sports people, sports teams, community teams or school groups, working with them closely to improve performance.
During your project, you will have the opportunity to take part in the following program activities.
Assist coaches in either rugby or football classes and work out – through skill development, coordination, game preparation and training drills. Referee games for children at the project and in the local community. Give advice and lessons on rugby or football tactics. Teach new sports exercises and provide advice on health issues and requirements
By so doing you will bring out ability by identifying needs and implementing suitable training sections and programs. In this context, you will be developing the participants' physical and psychological fitness and providing the best possible practical conditions in order to maximize their chances of performing to the best of their ability.
